Small Angle Neutron Scattering and X-Ray Diffraction Studies of Nanocrystalline Titanium Dioxide

چکیده
Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide powder is characterized for phase analysis as well as particle size and its distribution by x-ray diffraction and small angle neutron scattering measurements. Analysis of the SANS data in the momentum transfer range q = 0.1 1.8 nm reveals an average particle size of 24.82 nm in good agreement with the particle size determined earlier by transmission electron microscopy. XRD measurement proves co-existence of rutile and anatase phases in this commercial TiO2 nanocrystalline powder.

Application of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues
ABSTRACT Background: Coherent scattering leads to diffraction effects and especially constructive interferences. Theseinterferences carry some information about the molecular structure of the tissue. As breast cancer isthe most widespread cancer in women, this project evaluated the application of small angleX-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues....
متن کاملSAXS Studies of TiO2 Nanoparticles in Polymer Electrolytes and in Nanostructured Films
Polymer electrolytes as nanostructured materials are very attractive components for batteries and opto-electronic devices. (PEO)₈ZnCl₂ polymer electrolytes were prepared from PEO and ZnCl₂. The nanocomposites (PEO)₈ZnCl₂/TiO₂ themselves contained TiO₂ nanograins. In this work, the influence of the TiO₂ nanograins on the morphology and ionic conductivity of the nanocomposite was systematically s...
متن کاملMicro Strain and Morphological Studies of Anatase and Rutile Phase TiO2 Nanocrystals Prepared via Sol-Gel and Solvothermal Method - A Comparative Study
Nanocrystals of Titanium dioxide were prepared via sol-gel and solvothermal method. They were characterized by X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy studies. The anatase and rutile phase reflections of the Titanium dioxide nanocrystals were identified by X-ray diffraction data. The micro strain value of the nanocrystals were analysed by W-H plot method. Very small value of micro st...
متن کاملCharacterisation Techniques & Theory
The work reported in this thesis concerns, not only the synthesis of mesoporous MCM-41 materials, but also their characterisation and analysis by a number of techniques. The methods used most frequently were small angle X-ray and neutron scattering. These procedures, especially when used in conjunction, are very powerful, giving much structural information in a critical size range. Other techni...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of Highly Porous TiO2 Scaffolds for Bone Defects
The purpose of this study was to fabricate and investigate the highly porous structure using titanium dioxide, which is a candidate for bone defect repairing. For this purpose, TiO2 scaffolds were synthesized using titanium butoxide, Pluronic F127 surfactant, and polyurethane foam blocks. Therefore, a colloid includes titanium butoxide and F127 and the polyurethane foams were immersed in it. Th...
